概要 Face image processing is used in various fields, and which is studied aiming at the application to human interface or surveillance system. There are some systems which extract a face area from arbitrary pictures in face image processing. Generally, face image processing systems are realized by software. However, considering the human interface, it will be one effective means that camera has the function of face area extraction. In this paper, the development of the system which extracts face area from a film shoot with a video camera and tracks it automatically is reported. This system can be miniaturized by hardware realization. And, we aim at extracting a face area of a speaker in a meeting.Face area extraction of this system was realized hardware on FPGA, and it was designed using VHDL. The genetic algorithm is used as algorithm of face area extraction.
